Welcome

This blog has been created for EDI professionals or those who just wish to find out more about all things wonderful in the world of EDI. For those who do not already know EDI stands for Electronic Data Interchange and is loosely defined as the structured transmission of electronic data between organizations. It has many standards (X12, UN/EDIFACT, TRADACOMS, ODETTE)and protocols (XML, HTTP, FTP, FTPS etc). EDI has a global reach and has become best business practice in many industries especially large format retailers, third party logistic providers and manufacturers. Advantages of EDI are numerous including real time information, accuracy and cost savings. Suppliers who are requested to trade documentation in an approved EDI format should not fret but should merely contact a reputable EDI provider who will take care of all mapping, specifications and requirements of the trading partner(s).
