Attaboy

Attaboy,

The expression was first explained to me by an old Navy Chief many years ago when I worked in the US defense industry. The Chief said, “An Attaboy is what you get from your boss when you do a good job. However, one “Dammit” (the reverse of an Attaboy), can take away 10 Attaboys.”. At B2BGateway www.B2BGateway.Net we have our own Attaboy program. Whenever someone goes above and beyond the “call of duty”, we can submit a e-mail to our Attaboy e-mail box. Several times a year the contents of the Attaboy mailbox are reviewed and the winners are chosen.

The most recent winners are Riona and Vinnie for staff members dealing with our clients and trading partners. Tom and Jill were the winners for staff members who only deal with other members of the staff. They each receive a $100 gift card and the satisfaction of knowing that they did a great job. Oh, in case you were wondering, we do not have an “Dammit” e-mail box.

Galway Races

B2BGateway.Net www.B2BGateway.Net would like to wish everyone attending the Galway Races this week the best of luck. The Galway Races is Ireland's largest Horse Racing event attracting roughly 150,000 to 200,000 horse racing enthusiasts over a five day period. However, it is not just the racing that makes this racing festival so popular, but the legendary Galway hospitality and 'craic' (pronounced crack - Irish word for great fun as opposed to chemical mind altering illegal substance!). If you need to move business documents through EDI, bet on a winner and log onto www.B2BGateway.Net or email Sales@B2BGateway.Net P.S. if you have any good tips for the races please contact our Irish Office on Tel. +353 91 788661, where I am sure that the staff would more than appreciate 'a word from the horses mouth'.

Running for Charity

When is a company too small to start a corporate challenge? My company B2BGateway - www.b2bgateway.net is by no means a massive company but we're getting bigger and bigger every day and think we could get quite a turnout. I have recently taken up running (barefoot, actually...I have my Vibram 5 Fingers on as we speak) and I'm very much enjoying it again - pain and injury free this time. I hear about all these corporate challenges and think it would be pretty nice for our company to 'run' one. It could start out as your average 5k and grow from there. I guess I'll need to get googling to figure out race day plan, course planning, media coverage and sponsorship, but the idea is there. Like many companies, we have a diverse group of people with varied interests so I don't think finding a charity would be a problem. Look for more on this as I find out more about the process.
